Process of Obtaining an Indian Visa
Costa Rica and Dominica have identical same-day visa processes, whereby citizens of either country can obtain a visa on arrival at any of the country’s airports. Citizens of both countries must present their passport, a valid return ticket, and a passport-sized photo. The cost of a visa is $25 USD. The visa process takes less than two minutes. The process to obtaining an Indian visa can be time-consuming and frustrating at times. Even the cheapest Indian visa for the U.S. costs around $140 USD for multiple entries or renewals, which is more than twice as much as many other types of visas (such as tourist visas). So if you are considering going anywhere in the Caribbean, it’s best to start thinking about where you might go beforehand to determine whether or not your country has an embassy there that can help with getting an Indian visa.
Costa Rica and Dominica’s Same-Day Indian Visa Processes
If you are visiting either Costa Rica or Dominica and want to stay in the country for more than 90 days, you will need to obtain a visa. The visa process can be done in one day in both countries.
Costa Rica:
- Go to the Costa Rican Embassy or Consulate in your home country.
- Verify your identity and citizenship.
- Fill out a visa application form and submit it with your passport photos and fee.
- You will receive a visa approval letter within 24 hours. Note: If you are a citizen of a Visa Waiver Program country, you do not need to apply for a visa, but you must still carry your passport with you at all times while in Costa Rica.
- Once you have your visa approval letter, proceed to the immigration checkpoint at the airport or seaport where you will be allowed into Costa Rica.
Dominica:
- Go to the Dominica Embassy or Consulate in your home country.
- Verify your identity and citizenship.
