What is an eVisa?
An eVisa is a type of visa that allows citizens of certain countries to travel to and reside in other countries for a period of time. In order to obtain an eVisa, applicants must first obtain a visa from their home country’s consulate or embassy in the country they are visiting. Indian eVisa Airport and Seaports for Entry
There are two types of Indian eVisas: Type A and Type B.
Type A Indian eVisas are valid for tourist visits of up to 30 days and can be used for any region in India excluding the Northeastern States (Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya). Type B Indian eVisas are valid for business visits of up to 60 days and can be used only for business trips to Southern India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Please note that while an Indian eVisa is valid for entry into all ports in India except the Northeastern States (Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya), it is not valid for exit from those same ports. How to Apply for an Indian eVisa
If you are planning to travel to India, it is important to obtain an Indian eVisa. There are two types of Indian eVisas available: electronic and physical. You must apply for an electronic visa before traveling to India. You can apply online or by mail. The application process can take up to a few weeks. Once you have your electronic visa, you will need to present it when you arrive in India.
The other type of Indian eVisa is a physical visa. You must apply for a physical visa before traveling to India. You can apply at the nearest Indian embassy or consulate. The application process can take up to 60 days, but often takes less time. After you have your physical visa, you will need to present it when you arrive in India.
There are several ways to visit India without a visa:
You can enter India on a valid passport from any country .
You can also receive a Visa On Arrival (VOA) if you are travelling on an approved airline and possess a valid passport with at least six months remaining validity from the date of your intended arrival in India.
Please check with your travel agent or the relevant Indian embassy or consulate about other methods of entry into India such as through an express lane at airports or through certain points of entry into Kerala by sea only (Chalakudy, Kannur).
The Process of Receiving an Indian eVisa
If you are an Indian national and wish to travel to any country other than India, you will need to obtain an Indian eVisa. There are two ways in which an Indian eVisa can be obtained: through a port of entry or via an airport.
There are a number of ports of entry that accept Indian nationals for travel: Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Goa and Idukki. You will need to apply in advance at the respective embassy or consulate.
If you are travelling via an airport, your visa application must be submitted at the airline counter prior to departure. However, some airports offer visa-on-arrival facilities for certain countries. Check with the airport authorities in your destination country before travelling.
Types of Indian eVisas
There are different types of Indian eVisas and each one has its own requirements. To get a visa, you will need to apply through the Indian embassy or consulate in your home country. You can find the list of Indian embassies and consulates here:
Once you have found the embassy or consulate for your country, visit their website to apply for a visa. The website will ask for your personal information, such as your name, passport number, date of birth, and occupation. You will also need to provide proof that you are travelling to India. This could include a copy of your flights tickets, hotel reservation confirmation, or letters from your employer or travel agent.
After you submit your application, the embassy or consulate will send you an approval letter. This letter will tell you when and where to pick up your visa packet. The packet will usually include an application form and several documents that you need to fill out.
Once you have filled out all the required forms and documents, return them to the embassy or consulate. They will then issue you a visa card. Make sure that you carry this card with you when travelling to India so that officials can verify that you are allowed to enter the country.
